They don't even need to have all of the features mentioned, I just want city-building games where combat isn't the focus, there's winning and losing and ideally campaigns, and the number of mechanics to master and balance are not countable with one hand.(Scizor): Defense, Sp. The only problem is that the Anno games I've played so far feels so…small? Maps can be big, but everything's built on islands! Kinda a bummer that I can't build sprawling metropolises like in Caesar III. Thinking about it, the Anno series probably comes closest: Careful planning to setup supply chains, balancing of supply and demand to both meet citizens' needs and also to feed export industries, going beyond meeting needs to make citizens happy enough to get bonuses or to upgrade the housing further, trading with AI settlements for profit and to obtain resources not locally available, a combat element to offer an extra element of challenge, that campaign mode I talked about…It's nice that they've wonders and tech like in AOE II too. I'm not looking for Sim City nor Tycoon type games though: I want games that aren't "for kids" simplistic and I don't find open-ended games entertaining I need objectives, win-lose conditions…having a campaign mode would be ideal.
